GapOnly® fundamentally changed the pet insurance landscape in Australia by shifting the industry away from the traditional “pay upfront and wait for reimbursement” model. By enabling eligible claims to be assessed in real time during the clinic visit, it helped reduce financial uncertainty for pet owners while making the claiming process simpler for vet teams.
Today, GapOnly® is used in around 85% of Australian veterinary clinics as part of everyday clinical workflows, processing more than 3,000 claims in real time every day.
Our partnership builds on that success with the GapOnly® Vet Portal. GapOnly® continues to power the claiming experience, while Tyro Health provides the payment technology that allows clinics to connect real-time claiming with digital payments, settlement and reconciliation in one secure workflow.1
Bringing claiming and payments together
By bringing these capabilities together in the GapOnly® Vet Portal, more clinics can access real-time claiming regardless of their size, location or whether they use integrated vet practice management software (VPMS).
The GapOnly® Vet Portal is free to access, helping more veterinary clinics offer GapOnly® without upfront or ongoing access fees. Clinics only pay when claims and payments are raised, making it easier to get started.
With a streamlined claim form designed for vet teams, clinics can submit GapOnly® claims quickly and easily. Once a claim outcome has been returned, clinics can confirm the pet owner’s final out-of-pocket amount and request payment from the same secure portal, reducing the steps between claiming and payment.
Built-in payment links make it easy to request the remaining gap payment as part of the claiming workflow, giving pet parents the flexibility to pay in-clinic or remotely using their preferred payment method, including Apple Pay and Google Pay, and giving clinics more ways to collect payment.
The GapOnly® Vet Portal also gives clinics a clearer view of payment activity, remittance information and reporting, making reconciliation easier.
Supporting the way veterinary clinics work
The GapOnly® Vet Portal is one way clinics can access Tyro Health’s payment technology, but we know it won’t be the right fit for every practice.
Many vet clinics already rely on a VPMS to manage appointments, clinical records and day-to-day operations. Rather than asking clinics to change the way they work, we’re making Tyro Health’s EFTPOS and digital payment capabilities available for VPMS developers to integrate into their own platforms.
That means clinics can choose the payment workflow that best suits their practice, whether that’s through the GapOnly® Vet Portal or, in future, through software they already use.
